Turning Dreaming into Achieving

To be perfectly honest, I did not foresee the first week of 2024 being dedicated to dreams. I imagined, like most, that this week would be focused on discussing the new: new habits, new choices, new awareness.

But somehow, each time I tried to talk about new things I ended up back in the land of dreams which I suppose also makes sense. Dreams are the new we have yet to see come into fruition and into our reality. They require us to have courage and blind faith in ourselves. Yet, when we talk about blind faith suddenly we tense up in fear. It’s as though a part of our subconscious shrivels up and goes “no, no, we can’t do that” which slowly but surely turns a dream dormant.

We’ve spoken a lot over the last few months about what it would mean to challenge fear. “The Fear” which is tied to our anxiety, self-doubt, shame and oh so much more. It’s the conglomeration of items that fills the void between who we are and who we want to become. It also fills the space between who we are and who we put out into the world. It’s the sticky and heavy stuff that prevents us from feeling expansive and bright.

So what if this year was a time where we ditched all that fear? If we simply chose to leave it behind and instead replace it with the mindset of trying. This year, this day may very well be the best day to try and believe. You see, it’s a choice to believe in yourself. It’s certainly not easy to build a dream that no one else can see. It’s doubly challenging to bring something into your reality when the only person that can feel it, see it and believe in it fully is you. So perhaps this year really is about you. It’s about you choosing to embrace who you are in this moment and acknowledging that you have had everything you need this whole time.

In choosing yourself, you slowly begin to release everything you thought you needed. You become free from the expectations of others and suddenly the only person you’re working against or with, is you. When we choose to work with ourselves and we embrace the notion that yes, we would like to try we suddenly become whole. It's as though all that space we were reserving for others becomes filled up with us. If, in the past, you were only running on 50% of yourself and 50% from others, consider what it might feel like to be 100% you.

100% of you doesn’t mean healed. It also doesn’t mean happy. Those things will come. 100% you does mean whole. Because in order to heal and in order to find happiness within yourself, you must see all parts of yourself. So this year, I invite you to consider what it would mean to say enough. Enough of holding space for doubts that hinder our reality. Enough waiting for others to tell us who to be or even worse, tell us who we cannot be. Enough sitting in the stagnation of feeling our dreams slowly slip away because we don’t feel we can achieve them.

Enough of filling ourselves with other things, other people, other ideas that have never been meant for us. Enough now, it’s time to make space for all of you.
